The artist has painted a depiction of a Thylacine or Tasmanian Tiger – an animal which became extinct in Tasmania in the last century. Whilst there is no living memory of the animal’s presence in this region, there are, however, images on rock art. The most visible appears on Ubirr Rock in the Kakadu National Park near the border of western Arnhem Land.
