These are Quinkan spirits flying through a storm, roaming the earth, protecting it and the creatures. Gubal the Carpet Snake serpent had created it and in my people’s beliefs the Gubal Carpet Snake created all living life on our earth and he put the tall man, the Quinkan, on this earth and he put the Tallman, the Quinkan, on this earth to protect everyting the Gubal carpet Snake serpent had created. Everywhere during the Wet season when storms come, thunder, lightning, strong winds blow and leaves fall from the trees. We know the Quinkan Tallman is somewhere out there hiding in the trees, watching over us. This is my story from my country, Magnetic Island. The stories of my elders passed down are my culture.
