Artist’s Country. This is the area where the artist spent the first part of his life and he shows the soakages that he and his family used to use. These require the sand to be cleared from them before one can get at the water. They are hidden in amongst the sand hills. All of these features have Tingari associations and are told of in song and dance. The matching piece to this was painted by Wimmitji’s wife Eubena Nampitjin sitting alongside from the same paint pots and sharing the same tools. It now hangs in the Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney. This painting hung alongside of Eubena’s at the Art Gallery for some 9 months in 2003. It features in Issue 27 of Australian Art Collector from January 2004 in their 50 Most Collectable Artists list.
