Lockhart River is a remote community on the eastern side of Cape York in far north Queensland. It is just inland from Quintell Beach with rivers flowing nearby and set in a picturesque setting of tropical rain forest. This community is noted for its vibrant coloured art work featuring some very different painting techniques. The Lockhart River Art Gang put this community on the world art map in about 2004 with now famous artists such as Rosella Namok, Silas Hobson and Fiona Omeenyo being founding members.
