This painting depicts a sacred site called Wingelina, a place where the women are honouring the ancestors from the 'Dreamtime' world creation period when ancestral beings emerged from underground and performed ceremonies and various other secret sacred rituals in which many aspects of the world were created and modified to become what it is today.  The concentric circles symbolise the sacred sites where the women had stopped during their journey.  The background dotting represents the spinifex and sandhill country typical of the area.
