Charmaine Pwerle was born in 1975 and is the daughter of Barbara Weir and comes from a family of well-known artists. Her grandmothers include Minnie Pwerle and Emily Kame Kngwarreye. Charmaine was taught techniques from her family to create beautiful and culturally significant works. Charmaine is a talented artist and paints the same stories as her grandmother Minnie Pwerle. There are likenesses between their works although Charmaine's are more precise and have layered patterns. Her Awelye paintings depict the traditional body paint designs for women's ceremony.
