Yvonne Martin

Yvonne Martin was born in Wyndham in 1961 and went to primary school there at St Joseph’s school. Martin met her husband Max Thomas in the 1970s and moved to Warmun to live on his country with his family. Martin has four childrem with Max. Yvonne has been painting for nearly 10 years, since Warmun Art Centre was established. She paints country belonging to her father around Wyndham, called Speewah. This is in Woolah country which is her language group. Martin lives at Doon Doon and works in the community. She teaches other women in her community about painting, and how to hunt for ochres.
