Theresa came from a strong painting family: her father was Brandy Tjungurrayi and her aunt and uncles were Elizabeth Nyumi, Patrick Olodoodi and Helicopter Tjungurrayi. Theresa painted her father’s country which is located around Jupiter Well which was a traditional water hole in the region of Kiwirrkurra Community in the Northern Territory. Theresa began painting in 2001 and in recent years developed a distinct painting style of layers of fine dots. During her final months she lived (and painted) in Alice Springs before dying of cancer in August 2017.
