Born at Haasts Bluff, Narbula (also spelt Narpula) Scobie commenced painting for Papunya Tula Artists in the ealy 1980’s, and was one of the first women to do so in Walungurru. She was married to Johnny Scobie Tjapanagka (now deceased), a Pintupi artist who was involved at the beginning of the art movement in Papunya. Narbula’s art is still evolving and she finds new ways of depicting the traditional stories of her Dreamings. She is the sister of the late Turkey Tolson Tjupurrula.
Her work, which depicts bush tucker and other women’s stories, is highly sought by collectors and she has held several exhibitions within Australia and overseas.
