Lena Kuriniya was the wife of renowned mimih carver, Crusoe Kuningbal, and mother of the artists, Crusoe Kurrdal, Owen Yalandja and Timothy Wulanjbirr. Kuriniya carved mimih sculptures and painted them in the manner that Kuningbal had shown her. She began carving in the mid-1980’s, and was the first Kuninjku woman to create carvings on a regular basis. Kurininiya was also known for her works in fibre, and participated in printmaking workshops in the last few years of her life.
