Jake James Tjapaltjarri

Jake is the son of famous Pintupi artist George Tjungurrayi. Jake continues the dreamings of his father with images of country and ancestral stories of the creation phase around Lake McKay and surrounding regions some 560km west of Alice Springs. These dreamings are enigmatic, secret and sacred, and not told to uninitiated men, children, women or white people. The optical illusions created by these paintings reflect similar imagery to that carved on sacred stones and boards (tjuringas) that are hypnotic for various reasons.
