This image depicts part of the story of Bia. Bia was an Aboriginal man from Cape York who came to Badu for a few days. When he was ready to depart back to Cape York he needed a canoe. He had supernatural magic powers that he used to transform a leaf into a canoe. He picked different types of leaves from eucalyptus trees called locally as Gerrgarr and Tukkarr.
Bia placed the two leaves in the sea. He saw the Gerrgarr leaf sink into the sea and the Tukkarr leaf floated. So he took that Tukkarr leaf and performed his magical ritual transforming that leaf into a canoe. He then set sail back to his home land at Cape York.
The art print depicts Bia (shown as a mangrove pod) sitting in the Tukkarr canoe leaf and the Gerrgarr leaf is sinking beneath Bia and the Tukkarr leaf canoe.
